Cape Fear River Trail Expansion

acquireUncategorized

In the final budget of the 2016 session, I was able to secure $125,000  for the Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation Department. This money, along with $161.392 in federal Transportation Alternatives Program funds, will be used to expand the Cape Fear River Trail to connect with the Cross Creek Linear Park in downtown Fayetteville. The Cape Fear River Trail is a 5.3 mile paved path, with many bridges, that is utilized by citizens throughout the area who are looking to get outside for exercise and to enjoy nature.
I’m very passionate about developing a well-connected trail system to give Fayetteville and Cumberland County residents access to the unique environment adjacent to the Cape Fear River. I’m always looking for opportunities to bring state resources to our community in the effort to build out this important community asset.
