North Carolina National Guard Commendation Medal

This past month, I was honored to receive the North Carolina National Guard Civilian Commendation Medal. I had the privilege of being able to assist in the recent changes to state law on the selection criteria for the adjutant general of the General Assembly. Adjutant General Lusk presented the award, and in his statement said;

“This meritorious award is for outstanding civilian service to the State and the North Carolina National Guard in advocating strategic, statutory changes to the selection criteria for the North Carolina Adjutant General.  North Carolina statutes detailing the selection of the Adjutant General were outdated and a potential liability to good leadership and command and control of the NCNG in today’s modern operational environment.  Senator Meredith’s leadership ensured a balanced change to state statute, garnering overwhelming bipartisan support for these critical statutory changes and subsequent passage of the affecting legislative bill.”
