The Civitas Institute recently reported on the truth behind the education numbers from the budget last year. The Democratic claims of thousands of teachers who would lose their jobs has been proven unfounded. The article, which can be read here, does an excellent job of outlining how a lack of federal funding is the reason to blame for most jobs lost. The State was charged with funding 4,600 additional positions to counteract the 7,400 jobs that are no longer funded with federal stimulus money. While there was a net loss of employees, the state funded more more than 4,000 additional employees.
